Key Works: Paving, Highway Re-Construction, Pedestrianization, Drainage, Kerbing, Street Furniture.
These works were conducted without issue in a busy public realm environment. Planning and communication with Essex County Council & Ringway played a fundamental role to enable us to deliver this project on time and to a standard which impressed everybody involved. Ongoing relationship monitoring, with local businesses and the general public, allowed programmed groundwork operations to run smoothly & effectively whilst minimising disruption.
The enhancement works predominantly consisted of installing new Marshalls specialist conservation kerbs along the whole length of the high street, these were used to ensure a sympathetic approach to the town centre’s restoration & improvement.
A variety of drainage was used throughout the groundworks including specialist Mono and Duo Slot Drainage which is suitable for all paved areas. Particularly where discreet efficient drainage is required. Renewal of street lighting and new additional specialist street lighting, this lighting was for signs and illuminating public realm areas within the groundworks package.
Stainless steel street furniture including bins, seat and benches, tree pits & a bespoke water feature were included in the specialist groundworks build. Uncontrolled crossing points were created along the high street as were junction reconfiguration and parking bays for shoppers.
There was also 6,000 m2 of new mild grey granite la linea conservation paving. La Linia is a subtly textured paving range that can be applied to generate striking visual effects through both colour & form.
The square has been re-paved and has areas of soft planting, trees & new benches. There was also the pedestrianization of a large area that was once a carriageway, this was totally resurfaced & black concrete spheres put in-situ to ensure no vehicular access. The focal point is the piazza-style ‘child safe’ water feature. The whole area Essex town centre has been transformed and rejuvenated.
